As the Aspen Music Festival and School enters the final week of the season, the Aspen Opera Theater Center is presenting its third opera of the season, Berlioz's comic opera, Beatrice and Benedict. Part of the Festival's mini-Shakespeare focus this summer, it is a musical take on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and follows the romantic travails of the two protagonists - sharp-tongued Beatrice and her waspish acquaintance, Benedict. How their friends plot to bring them together provides a sunny conclusion to the Opera Theater Center's season performances. Performances take place at the Wheeler Opera House tonight, August 16, August 18 and 20. All shows start at 7 pm. Tickets at www.aspenmusicfestival.com.
