Rogers and Hammerstein's beloved musical, South Pacific, gets the concert treatment tonight at the Benedict Music Tent at 7:30pm. Headlined by Metropolitan Opera star Nathan Gunn in tonight's production, South Pacific was a groundbreaking musical for its time. Written in 1949, it wove important themes of racial prejudice into some of it's most tuneful melodies, including "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught" and although upbeat and cheerful at times, it's dramatic heft won it the Pulitzer Prize in 1950. It's going to be a beautiful night, so consider taking the show in from the lawn around the tent - it's going to be "Some Enchanted Evening!"
