It is not surprising that Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley is filled with aspiring freestyle athletes. After all, the X Games is in our backyard every year, and our kids play in the halfpipe and terrain park at Buttermilk all winter long. So, the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open is a very popular event here. Included in the events are men's and women's Slopestyle, Superpipe, Big Air, plus a Rail Jam in Snowmass. Last year, more than 200 athetes from six countries, both professional-level and amateur, took part and tested their skills. The Open is one of the longest-running independent competitions in the country. So plan on coming out to Buttermilk to watch from February 16-18.
