The Winter X Games are returning to Buttermilk next week, January 29-31, and we want you to know there will be a number of alterations for this year's event. Chief among the changes is that the competitions will take place over three days instead of the usual four, and no spectators will be allowed at the venue. Because of the ongoing pandemic, it is important to note that only athletes and support staff will be allowed on site, along with ESPN staff. The great thing is that all events will be broadcast on TV, so you'll see far more than you would if you were standing at the base of the mountain. This year's event list has also been shortened to include only events for skiers and boarders. Happily these changes are planned for just this year, so we can all look forward to 2022 and the return of the full slate of competitions.
