During the spring season, many migratory birds fly into the Aspen area, making May a fun month for observing visiting birds and their nesting activities (not unlike our human visitors!). Next Tuesday, May 31, join ACES (Aspen Center for Environmental Studies) and their experts, and visit bird habitats including Hallam Lake, North Star Nature Preserve, and other birding spots around Aspen. Birders of all levels are welcome; it's a great way to enhance your knowledge of local birds and their habitats, and develop or improve your existing field skills. You can bring your own binoculars (or borrow theirs) and be sure to dress in warm, layered clothing and sturdy footwear, because bird watching begins at 6:30am. You may even get a chance to see the early bird catch the worm! Details at aspennature.org.
