For 36 years, visitors and locals have partied hearty at Snowmass's annual Mardi Gras celebration. You can expect the same this year, when all things Mardi Gras kick off at the resort's Fat Tuesday party tomorrow, February 13. Snowmass just received 16" of snow this weekend (with Aspen and Highlands each receiving a foot of the white gold). So, begin your day at 7am in Snowmass for the Mother of All Ascensions race up Snowmass Mountain to Gwyn's High Alpine. If you still have some steam after that, the Mardi Gras festivities kick off at 1pm and go until 9pm, with bead toss, live music, stilt walkers, face painting, a Mardi Gras Ullr Night party at Elk Camp, Cajun food and wine specials, capped off with fireworks. Whoo-ah!
